Ridge & Hip Ventilation Roll for Dry-Fix Roofs

KOSITE Ridge & Hip Ventilation Roll is a flexible roof accessory installed beneath ridge and hip tiles in compatible dry-fix tiled roof systems. It combines a perforated polypropylene (PP) fabric centre, corrugated aluminium edges and butyl adhesive strips to provide a ventilation pathway and a conformable tile interface. Roll dimensions and adhesive specifications are confirmed against the approved sample.

Product Overview and Applications

This ridge ventilation roll, also known as a dry ridge roll or ridge and hip sealing roll, forms part of a ventilated roof ridge or hip detail. It is intended for compatible clay or concrete tiled roofs where the roof-system design specifies a roll-type accessory beneath mechanically fixed ridge or hip tiles.

The perforated centre provides a route for air movement, while the corrugated aluminium edges follow the tile profile and the butyl strips help seal the bonded interfaces. Effective roof ventilation also requires suitable air inlets, clear airflow paths and a correctly detailed outlet.

It is not a continuous waterproof roofing membrane, housewrap, tile fixing system or substitute for a project-specific roof design. Suitability for slate, unusual tile profiles and other roof coverings requires separate confirmation.

Key Product Features

  • Ventilating centre: perforated PP fabric provides an airflow pathway beneath the ridge or hip covering.
  • Conformable edges: corrugated aluminium strips can be shaped to the compatible tile profile.
  • Adhesive interface: butyl strips bond the side edges to suitable clean, dry tile surfaces.
  • Flexible roll format: the roll can be positioned along a straight ridge or hip, with junctions and overlaps detailed to the approved installation specification.

Product Construction

  • Perforated polypropylene centre: PP fabric provides a ventilation pathway beneath ridge and hip tiles. Confirm the perforation pattern, strength and installed ventilation performance for the selected roof system.
  • Corrugated aluminium edges: conformable aluminium strips follow the roof tile profile. Confirm the finish and suitability for the selected tiles.
  • Butyl adhesive strips: bond the edges to compatible tile surfaces and help seal the interfaces. Agree adhesive width, release liner and installation conditions before ordering.
  • Roll format: confirm overall width, usable ventilation zone, length, colour and packaging.

These materials describe the confirmed KOSITE sample construction. Ventilation capacity, weather resistance and durability require product-specific evidence and evaluation of the complete installed roof detail.

Illustrative installation detail, not a project photograph. Final layout and fixings depend on the approved roof-system design.

Installation and Compatibility Checks

  1. Confirm the tile profile, roof pitch, ventilation route, ridge batten support and fixing arrangement against the approved roof-system detail.
  2. Position the roll centrally along the ridge or hip batten. Keep the PP centre continuous across the batten and avoid stretching or tearing the perforated fabric.
  3. Form the corrugated aluminium edges to the tile profile. Where a release liner is fitted, remove it progressively and press the butyl strips firmly onto clean, dry and compatible tile surfaces.
  4. Complete overlaps, junctions and end closures to the selected product instructions, leaving the ventilation pathway unobstructed.
  5. Install and mechanically secure the ridge or hip tiles with the specified system components. The roll and its adhesive do not replace tile fixings.

Overlap dimensions, substrate preparation, installation temperature and exposure limits must be confirmed for the ordered specification. The illustrated detail shows the arrangement only; it is not a universal construction drawing.

Standards and Performance Evidence

For UK projects, BS 8612 addresses dry-fixed ridge, hip and verge systems; BS 5534 addresses slating and tiling, and BS 5250 addresses moisture management. These are design and evaluation references, not a claim that this KOSITE roll or an assembled system has been certified.

Procurement should review evidence applicable to the ordered product and installed system, including ventilation capacity, weather resistance, fixing security, adhesion and durability. Fabric perforation area alone does not establish installed ventilation performance.

OEM Supply and Ordering Information

For distributor and private-label enquiries, send the target market, roof covering, required roll width and length, edge colour, adhesive specification, estimated quantity and packaging requirements. KOSITE will review production or supply feasibility and confirm available options against an approved sample.

  • Roll specification: agree width, length, ventilation-zone layout and aluminium edge configuration.
  • Adhesive specification: agree butyl strip width, release liner and intended substrate.
  • Packaging: discuss labels, carton format and private-label artwork.
  • Technical requirements: identify the product data and system evidence required by the destination market.

Ask KOSITE to confirm sample availability, minimum order quantity, lead time and the approved technical specification before order placement. No fixed ventilation rate, service life, exposure period or fire classification is stated without supporting product-specific evidence.

Breathable roofing underlayment provides a separate under-cover weather-management layer. Butyl sealing tape is selected for compatible sealing details. These products have different functions and should be specified separately.
