Butyl Sealing Tape for Membranes and Housewrap
KOSITE supplies butyl membrane sealing tape for compatible roof underlay and housewrap details. Specify double-sided butyl tape for concealed membrane laps separately from backed butyl flashing tape for window and door transitions; the approved construction determines the application.
Compatible Membrane Tapes and OEM Supply
Choose accessories for the actual membrane, substrate and joint. A seam tape, concealed-lap butyl tape and window flashing tape serve different details; none replaces the approved drainage and flashing design.
- Breather membrane joint tape and housewrap / WRB seam tape: for compatible membrane overlaps; select a separate approved flashing construction for window and door openings.
- Butyl membrane sealing tape: discuss double-sided concealed-lap tape or backed flashing construction for the intended interface.
- Vapor-permeable housewrap and wall WRB and roofing underlayment: confirm the selected grade and compatible accessory together.
For European and US private-label tape supply, send the destination market, application, membrane sample, tape width and length, quantity, label artwork and packaging requirements. Confirm available constructions, MOQ, lead time and applicable technical documents with the quotation.
Discuss an OEM membrane and accessory program or request tape samples and a specification-based quotation.
Butyl Membrane Tape Applications
- Butyl compound conforms to irregular interfaces to support a continuous water-managed detail.
- Suitable for compatible membrane laps, metal interfaces and selected penetration or repair details.
- Select the required backing, width and roll format according to the wall, roof or flashing design.
Double-Sided Butyl Tape or Butyl Flashing Tape?
- Double-sided butyl tape for membranes is positioned between compatible surfaces at concealed laps. A backed flashing tape covers a transition; the two constructions are not interchangeable without an approved detail.
- A tape used with a breathable membrane is not necessarily vapor permeable. Specify the vapor properties of the selected tape rather than assuming that butyl tape breathes.
- Adhesion depends on the selected membrane surface, substrate condition, temperature and pressure during installation.
- The substrate should be dry, clean and free from oil or loose dust before the tape is pressed into place.
Butyl Tape Specification and OEM Inquiry
- Confirm whether the tape is used for a concealed lap, a metal interface, a fastener detail or a penetration.
- Define the required width, backing, butyl thickness, roll length and required installation-temperature range.
- Review compatibility with the selected membrane, flashing, sealant and adjacent substrates before production.
- Use project drawings and the membrane system instructions to define overlap and termination details.
